LATEST NEWS> 21 February 2008 BRITISH AIRLINE BMI SIGNS EXCLUSIVE DEAL WITH KEVIN MCPHILLIPS TRAVEL Recently reported talks have been concluded with the signing of an exclusive partnership on the Freetown route between British airline BMI and Kevin McPhillips Travel. Terms included in the deal sees Kevin McPhillips Travel offering special discounted fares to it’s customers throughout the world. Commencing 02 May, the company’s Freetown Flyer will also see an increase in frequency to four weekly non stop flights from London’s Heathrow Airport. > 07 February 2008 PARTNERSHIP TALKS BETWEEN KEVIN MCPHILLIPS TRAVEL AND BRITISH CARRIER BMI In recognising the unique Kevin McPhillips Travel market position in representing over seventy per cent of flight arrangements to Sierra Leone during its twenty five year history, the company has been approached by British carrier BMI for talks relating to partnership arrangements on the Freetown route - for which an announcement on such talks will be made later this month. > 15 JANUARY 2008 ASTRAEUS HANDS OVER REINS ON FREETOWN ROUTE TO BRITISH CARRIER BMI Having served the Freetown route during the last four years, Astraeus Airlines is to adopt a new future aviation role providing leasing arrangements of its Boeing 757 aircraft fleet to other airlines. The Astraeus Freetown Flyer schedule service will continue through to 28 April, after which the larger British airline BMI will replace the service with an expanded frequency to four weekly non stop flights from London’s Heathrow Airport. > 19/09/07 ERNEST BAI KOROMA - PRESIDENT OF SIERRA LEONE Following elections in Sierra Leone, having been declared winner of the run off voting process, Ernest Bai Koroma has been sworn in as President. Leading the opposition APC party, Mr. Koroma won 55% of the final vote against Solomon Berewa’s 46% resulting in Koroma’s inauguration on Monday 17 September; which was attended by military officials and dignitaries including outgoing President Ahmed Tejan Kabbah. The new President told a crowd of thousands “My government will spare no effort to adopt zero tolerance on corruption and mismanagement of state resources. We know how high your expectations are and that you have suffered for too long”. |
